To The Daily Sun,

To respond to a recent editorial, the lands now described as “Palestine” can’t be construed as “being stolen” by the Jews. The Jewish people had had a presence in the Middle East for thousands of years as documented by historical records and by archeological discoveries. It has only been the last 50 years that a new group of Arabian peoples (the Palestinians with support from anti-Israeli Islamic nations and antisemitic political movements) have used terroristic tactics to make a claim for the entire area without any effort for political compromise (“from the river to the sea”).

Some liberal (Jewish and non-Jewish) commentators have tried to make a case that the United States should not be “arming” Israel. As long as these anti-Israel terrorist organizations are being armed by the likes of Russia and Iran and pose a threat to other democratic societies worldwide, the Israeli military needs this assistance to defend and protect its multicultural people (Israeli Jews, Arabs, Christians and Druze included). In addition there are many conservative commentators offering patronizing and general antisemitic rhetoric which isn’t helpful either.

However, currently, the support of Israeli nationhood has bipartisan support in the United states and should not be used to support one political movement over another. Good and bad “actors" exist on both sides of the aisle in this regard.
