Dear Editor:
On behalf of the Lakes Region Community College community, and especially the LRCC Student Senate, I would like to invite the public to our annual Veterans Appreciation Day event. We will be holding this in advance of Veterans Day on Thursday, November 8, at 12-1 p. m. in the College’s Academic Commons which located in our CAT building.
This is an annual even at LRCC, but this year’s Veterans Day marks the 100th anniversary of the holiday. On that day, 100 years ago, the guns or World War One fell silent. This is a landmark occasion and the College would like to have as many people as possible attend, whether one is a veteran or not. This year, we will be honoring not only those who served, but also those who continue to serve the nation on active or reserve duty. Moreover, we will be honoring the families and loved ones of those who serve or have served.
A special thanks goes to LRCC’s Student Senate which will be providing refreshments. Also, if you have a disability, service-related or not, our student Senators, also want to thank those in the wider community for their support of this event every November.
Come out and celebrate and honor those who have served our country!
Sincerely,
Scott Cracraft, Jr.
Professor of History and Social Sciences
