Judith Ackerson: Trusting Erica Russell for state rep in Franklin, Northfield

As a resident of Franklin’s Ward 3, I do not agree with Councilor Ed Prive lauding what he considers the stellar work of Rep. James Thibault. It is hard to find evidence of anything positive that Mr. Thibeault has done for the residents of our city. It is obvious he is only listening to a portion of the population of Franklin.

There are many instances in which Rep. Thibault’s votes have negatively impacted Franklin. One glaring example is Rep. Thibault’s vote for increased funding to EFAs. Families who have chosen a private or religious school can now have free access to classes or extracurricular activities at our public school if their “alternative” school does not provide what they want. His vote has created an additional drain on our public schools, at no cost to the EFA student and family.

Rep. Thibault’s allegiance to Turning Point Action is evident in his conservatism and pattern of voting on all legislation.

We have an excellent choice for state representative for Franklin and Northfield in this year’s election, Erica Russell. I trust Erica to listen to and represent the people of Franklin, not follow the dictates of a national organization. On Nov. 3, please vote for Erica Russell, state representative for Franklin Ward 3 and Northfield.
