To The Daily Sun,

Moultonborough residents, especially those who live on "the Neck" road, and who do not want a cemetery at the junction of Ferry and very busy Moultonboro Neck roads, decided solely by the selectboard, need to sign and submit a petition. Some of us believe the legislative body (the voters at Town Meeting) should decide. How much the town is willing to pay, or is being asked by the owner, is not presently public knowledge. The money issue will be brought up at the two statutory public hearings required by

RSA 41:14-a, that the selectboard has invoked, and is the "agent to expend" the funds. The two public hearings are presently scheduled for Aug. 10 and 20 at 5 p.m. The property is part of a recent 11 lot subdivision.

The owner has already stated he will not "gift" the acreage of what is now known as lot 3, especially, and lot 2. The lot across the street recently sold for $299,500, according to town records. Lot 3, the proposed cemetery lot has a great view and is probably in the $400,000-$500,000 market value range. Deceased do not need a great view.

Also, RSA 289:2 authorizes inter-municipal agreements to provide public burial grounds.

Copy and complete the following petition and submit to the town. The petition is only to get a town vote and not to reject the location of the cemetery. It is an execution of democracy, while understanding we are actually a republic.

Thanks in advance for a petition submission.
