Janet Simmon: All the people of Gaza are human beings created by G-d

I would like to correct some inaccuracies in the letter Ms. Sheila Kufert wrote to The Sun on Feb. 12.

She states again, "I recommend that anyone who wants to learn the truth, visit Israel" without knowing how many of us have been there and who know many Christians who live there.

Does Ms. Kufert know that descendants of the first Christians still live there? I have walked through many villages, stayed in homes, shared meals in Nazareth, At-Tawani, Beit Sahur, Sederot and many more.

Yes, there are also Christians in Gaza. Gaza was not always fenced off from the rest of their homeland. There are not as many Christians in Gaza now as there were before many were killed by United States' bombs.

The third oldest church in the world, the Church of Saint Porphyrius, is in Gaza — at least the tiny bits that remain after it was bombed in 2024 with bombs made in the United States and sent with our tax dollars. It would benefit readers to look at some photographs of this lovely church taken in 2022.

Many of Gaza’s Christians are Greek Orthodox, some are Catholic and some are Baptist.

I would also like Ms. Kufert to know that all the people of Gaza, including little children, thousands of whom have been blown to smithereens by 2,000-pound bombs made in the United States, are human beings created by G-d.
