George Maloof: Without sending honest signals, we are own worst enemy

New Hampshire voters pride themselves on their fierce independence. We wear our "Live Free or Die" motto like a badge of honor. But when we step into the voting booth, a hypocritical trend emerges: we have become our own worst enemy.

Too many voters who claim to be independent have abandoned voting their conscience. Instead, they vote "strategically," obsessing over media narratives and "electability." They settle for the status quo out of fear.

Look at the upcoming U.S. Senate primary. Voters have a distinct choice in Dr. Karishma Manzur, a grassroots candidate. Yet mainstream punditry pushes voters toward establishment insiders based on calculations of who is a "safer" bet.

When we vote out of fear rather than conviction, we break representative democracy. If we keep voting for the "lesser of two evils," Washington, D.C. will never know how we really feel about change.

Democracy only functions when voters send an honest signal. If we genuinely want change, we must stop acting like political strategists and start voting our true principles. Let’s bring real independence back to New Hampshire.
