Cornelia Schneider: Randolph would be representative for the ‘purple’ people

Vote for Bryan Randolph for New Hampshire House District 3 in Carroll County. Here's why:

Most Granite Staters aren't red or blue. We're purple. Undeclared voters are New Hampshire's largest voting bloc, bigger than either party. That's a strength, and it means we need legislators who answer to us, not to party bosses or special interests.

Bryan gets that. As a mental health clinician, he has built a career on listening and helping people through hard situations. His motto, "Leadership that listens," fits him well. He's a fair-minded Democrat who will listen to all of us, then lead with integrity.

Now consider the opposition's record. Richard Brown, who is moving back to District 3 from District 8, has voted repeatedly to expand the education voucher program to wealthier families, pulling more money from the state funding that supports our public schools. Meanwhile, voucher oversight has lagged: a state review of 50 early applications found nearly a quarter were approved without sufficient documentation, spending records show voucher dollars going to ski passes and summer camps, and legislative auditors have struggled to get the data they need for a full review. A new state law even lets these students take public school courses for free.

Is this what District 3 voters asked for? These aren't the votes of someone answering to residents who support our public schools. Likewise, Karel Crawford, Brown's running mate on the ballot, has too often voted the way her party bosses wanted.

We deserve representatives who show up, ask what we think before they vote, and don't march in lockstep with party bosses or wealthy special interests.

Vote for Bryan Randolph. Leadership that listens. Purple people, represented.
