To the Daily Sun,

As a 29-year member of the Putnam Fund, I wish to thank “Jay and the Americans,” the Colonial Theatre management and staff, and our audience for an amazing show on Sept. 4. I know the other members join me in this “thank you!”

Everyone in attendance had a marvelous experience in the magnificently restored Colonial Theatre. “Jay and the Americans”, including three originals, performed all their huge hits, a set of Roy Orbison’s greatest hits, and a selection from the greatest hits of Elvis Presley. I thought Roy and Elvis were singing their songs. The show concluded with a lengthy standing ovation. Then the group made themselves available for pictures and autographs for an extended period following the show.

This was the first musical concert at the renovated Colonial Theatre, and it could not have been more memorable.

I experienced one disappointment. Although there was a stand-by line, the public did not understand there are always “no shows” with free tickets. There were approximately 150 empty seats available at showtime. There will always be tickets available for the stand-by line.

All the Putnam Fund members hope to see you at “The Rat Pack” show on Sept. 17!
