The 12th annual Lakes Region Inter-Faith Prayer Breakfast brought together members of the area's faith communities on the topic of "Prayer, Faith and the Founding Fathers," at St. André Bessette Parish Hall in Laconia, on May 7. Keynote speaker Robert E. Dunn Jr., director of public policy for the Roman Catholic Diocese of Manchester, addressed the influence religion and faith had over the creation of the United States, 250 years ago. Members of Laconia Christian Fellowship, Gilford Community Church, Hope Ministries, St. André Bessette and Temple B'nai Israel offered readings and prayers, and a breakfast buffet was served. Matt McGonagle of Gilford Community Church sang the national anthem, as well as the hymn "America the Beautiful." The breakfast was a fundraiser for the NH Catholic Charities Food Bank, and Hands Across the Table, a free congregate meal served in the parish hall weekly on Wednesday evenings.
