TILTON — Two people were hospitalized, one with a severe injury, in an accident on East Main Street on Thursday morning.

The Tilton-Northfield Fire Department was dispatched to the intersection of Sherwood Drive and East Main, in front of Nucar Automall of Tilton, at 11:53 a.m. on April 16, for a report of a two-car accident, according to Chief Sean Valovanie.

Valovanie said a Jeep collided head-on with the passenger side of a Nissan in a “T-bone” accident. An adult male passenger in the Nissan was seriously hurt in the leg, and taken by a Sanbornton Fire Department ambulance to Concord Hospital-Concord for treatment. The female driver of the Nissan was up and walking around at the scene, but was also taken to the hospital, to be evaluated for minor injuries.

Both occupants of the Jeep declined emergency medical care.

The road was not closed, but Valovanie said it was “severely limited, due to the extent of the accident.”

The vehicles were removed from the scene by Rusty’s Towing. Units cleared the area at 12:29 p.m.

Tilton Police Lt. Andrew Salmon said his department responded to the accident, and the crash remains under investigation.
