Gwendolyn R. Street, 81

MEREDITH — Gwendolyn R. (Miller) Street, 81, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, cousin and friend, went to be with the Lord on Aug. 22, 2026, at Port Canaveral Hospital in Florida.

Born on Aug. 21, 1945, Gwen was the daughter of Nathan Miller and Florence (Parker) Miller. She grew up in Durham, Maine, and graduated from Brunswick High School. One of seven children, she was raised in a family where laughter, prayer, and a healthy dose of mischief were part of everyday life. Gwen inherited her mother’s infectious laughter and her father’s beautiful Scottish curly red hair. Her smile, laughter, and striking red hair first caught the attention of the man who would become her husband of 61 years. Gwen was beautiful both inside and out.

Gwen and Dave began their life together with very little, living in a modest third-floor apartment in Gloucester, Massachusetts. In those early years, they worked hard, made do with what they had, and faced each challenge together. Gwen’s steady support, good humor, and willingness to shoulder whatever needed doing became a hallmark of their life together.

During those early years, Gwen cleaned homes for affluent families in the Magnolia area along the Massachusetts coast. At the recommendation of a cousin, the couple moved to the Center Harbor and Meredith area, in pursuit of greater opportunities in the electrical contracting trade. Gwen fully supported Dave’s ambitions while simultaneously raising their two spirited red-haired daughters. Although the family spent considerable time in Florida, over the years, their love for Meredith and the Lakes Region never faded.

The Streets experienced both prosperity and hardship throughout their lives together. Through every season, Gwen remained steadfast in her love and support for Dave. She encouraged, prayed for, and cheered on those she loved, and her presence helped hold the family together.

Gwen was known for her warm personality, infectious laughter, striking beauty, and unwavering devotion to her husband and children. She accepted life's many adventures with grace and good humor. The foundation of her life was her faith in Christ and her commitment to "pray without ceasing," a lesson instilled by her parents as they raised their own family of seven children. Gwen never stopped praying, and that enduring faith is the legacy she leaves to her daughters and grandchildren.

Among Gwen’s favorite pastimes were spending time by the ocean, singing with her cousins, decorating, hairstyling, enjoying her grandchildren, and keeping a beautifully organized home. Life with her husband and children provided more than its share of adventure, from boat crashes and airplane crashes to snowmobile accidents, race car crashes, fires, and the occasional explosion. Through it all, Gwen met the commotion with determination, resilience, good humor, and a well-practiced ability to duck and pray. And while she endured plenty from the passenger seat, she had a lead foot of her own and could surprise just about anyone off the line.

Gwen is survived by her adoring husband, David “Hudson” Street; her daughters, Tavia Cederberg and her husband Eric Cederberg, and Melissa Street and her husband Norman Harasymchuk; her beloved grandchildren, Neil Cederberg, Marisa Behrens, Kayla Harasymchuk, and Jasmine “Moo Nay” Min and her husband Joshua Min; and her great-grandchildren, Jeremiah, Nehemiah, Zinnia Joy, and Hezekiah, who brought great joy to her life. She is also survived by her siblings, Natalie (Miller) Kuchta and her husband Fr. Alexander Kuchta, Sylvia (Miller) Springer, and Joanna (Miller) Moore and her husband Brian Moore. Gwen had many loving cousins, nieces and nephews, and she treasured gatherings with them. Like her mother before her, she lit up the room with laughter and warmth.

Gwen’s funeral will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 3, at Shiloh Chapel in Durham, Maine. Family and friends are welcome to gather for a catered reception afterward. Those planning to attend the reception are kindly asked to RSVP at evite.me/EfstGEUyGF.
