LACONIA — Gilbert Ralph Hulse Jr., 83, passed away peacefully on March 21, 2026, at home.

Gilbert was born Sept. 11, 1942, in Berkeley, California, the son of the late Gilbert Ralph Hulse and May Katherine (Andrews) Hulse. Gilbert was born and raised in the desert of California.

Gilbert worked in his father’s trucking business as a short-haul driver. After college he worked as an electrical engineer for General Dynamics in California. He spent many years going back and forth between New Hampshire, and California, to be closer to family during the summer season. Gilbert enjoyed the drive, but in the spring of 2025, he decided to remain in New Hampshire permanently.

He enjoyed hunting, cooking, fishing on the lake and ocean, talking politics, investing and trading in the stock market, and riding motorcycles. Gilbert loved spending time with his family the most.

Gilbert is survived by his daughters, Sharon Akerstrom and her husband Mark, and Karin Scott and her significant other Mark Foster; stepdaughters Kim Falos and her husband Josh, and Wendy Frisch and her husband Billy; grandchildren Travis Akerstrom and his wife Emily, Emma Scott, David Falos, Dylan Frisch, and Luke Frisch; one great-grandchild, Wesley Akerstrom; sister Bonnie Goodwin; and two nephews, Jeff Goodwin and his wife Julie, and Randy Goodwin and his wife Lisa.

In addition to his parents, Gilbert is predeceased by his brother-in-law, Ben Goodwin.
