Edward Douglas II, 61

Edward “Junior” Douglas II, age 61, of Laconia, passed away on Aug. 1, 2026, surrounded by loved ones, after a valiant battle with laryngeal cancer.

Born at Franklin Hospital on July 14, 1965, Junior was the sixth and youngest child of Esther and Edward Douglas. With the energy and enthusiasm that youngest children are famous for, Junior kept his loved ones on their toes with his antics. He was curious to a fault, and always looking for fun and adventure. At age 19, Junior was in a car accident which left him with physical disabilities and took the life of his cousin and best friend, Scottie Marsh. Junior’s remarkable recovery was nothing short of a miracle. He remained fiercely independent following his accident, and it was not uncommon for Junior to walk from town to town to spend time with loved ones.

In his lifetime, Junior suffered countless accidents and physical setbacks. His grit and determination to recover each time was truly inspiring to those who were fortunate enough to know him.

Junior’s nieces and nephews were his pride and joy, and he always enjoyed catching up and learning more about their lives. He loved them immensely and did anything he could to make them happy, even insisting that his youngest nephews take his last dollar to buy themselves a goodie. Because of his love of children, he wanted nothing more than a family of his own. On his 42nd birthday, Junior’s dream came true and his daughter, Lilliah, was born. She was the absolute light of his life.

He is survived by his daughter, Lilliah Earle of Northfield; his siblings, Joyce Ano of Northfield, Juanita Duval of Tilton, Brian Douglas of Epsom, Russell Douglas of Zephyrhills, Florida, and Brenda Walsh and her husband John of Northfield; nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.

Junior’s family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to those who provided him with exceptional care throughout the course of his illness, including his teams at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, Concord Hospital, and Granite VNA Hospice House.

All who loved Junior are welcome to attend calling hours at The Cremation Society of New Hampshire at 172 King Street in Boscawen, from 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 10. A celebration of life will follow at a later date.
