LACONIA — Edith Gertrude Hilliard, 83, of Valley Street, passed away on July 23, 2026, at her home surrounded by her loved ones.

Edith was born on April 9, 1943, in Laconia, the daughter of the late Kenneth Amadon and Madeline (née Moulton) Amadon.

She found joy in life's simple pleasures and had a special talent for turning ordinary moments into cherished memories. Edith loved spending time making crafts, always creating something thoughtful with her hands. Local fairs were among her favorite outings, where she enjoyed the lively atmosphere, homemade treats, and unique handmade items. She also looked forward to playing bingo with friends, appreciating both the excitement of the game and the time spent together. Weekend yard sales were another favorite adventure, as she delighted in searching for hidden treasures and finding new purpose for well-loved items. Her hobbies reflected her creativity, curiosity, and appreciation for community, leaving lasting memories for everyone who knew her.

Edith is survived by her son Wayne Hilliard (Jeannine) of Laconia; daughters Selina Edson (Richard) of Gorham, and Sherry Martin (Frederick) of Laconia; brother Clarence Amadon; grandchildren Phil, Jessica, Tom, Tim, Melinda, Derek, Anthony, Celia, Bryon, Ariana and Wayne Jr.; 23 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; eight nieces and three nephews. In addition to her parents, Edith was predeceased by her husband Thomas J. Hilliard, three sisters, and two brothers.

There will be no calling hours.

A celebration of life will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 8, at Tardiff Park, 51 Crescent St.

A graveside service will be held at a later date at Bayside Cemetery.
