A celebration of life will be held for Alice Beyrent on Saturday, Aug. 16, 2025, at 1 p.m. at First United Methodist Church of Gilford.

Alice passed away the morning of April 21, 2025. She was a longtime resident of Gilford and a member of the Wesley Woods community.

Alice's career focused around education (from preschool to college) and her last position was as an adjunct professor of early childhood education and development. She also edited and co-authored textbooks on the subject.

Her passion was for music, playing clarinet in the Gilford Community Band, in many of the fall musical productions at the Gilford High School, in a trio for many years, and at several recitals. Alice often rang bells at First United Methodist Church of Gilford. For decades, she taught private clarinet lessons.

Alice was an avid reader and lifelong learner. Most of her time was spent reading very long history books, cross stitching, watching British dramas, and adoring her English springer spaniels and cat. She worshipped at the First United Methodist Church of Gilford for 40 years.

Alice is survived by daughter Heather and her husband, Bryan Doughty, and grandchildren Brynn, Hayden, and Bryce; son Erich and his partner, Jenna Caddell, and grandchildren Christopher and Nicholas; son Geoffrey and his partner, Xandria Ponte; sister Grace Ostrum and her husband Matt; stepsister Phyllis Morgan and her husband Leon.

Donations in Alice's memory can be made to First United Methodist Church.
