FRANKLIN — Come show support for the Winnipesaukee River Trail on Thursday, Oct. 9, at the Elks Lodge in Franklin.

The annual Taste of the Trails fundraiser features samples of foods from a number of local restaurants as well as a silent auction followed by a live auction.  Auction items include gift certificates, and items donated by local businesses, as well as some handcrafted items.

Consistent with one of the original goals of the Winnipesaukee River Trail, the event is a way to bring the Franklin, Northfield and Tilton communities together, socialize with friends and neighbors, and/or meet other people who support the Winnipesaukee River Trail.

All proceeds go toward maintaining the Winnipesaukee River Trail as well as future expansion efforts.  Fred Carouso and Auctioneer David Liberatore will help emcee the event.

The historic Winnipesaukee River Trail, is a multi-use pedestrian trail that follows the Winnipesaukee River and connects the downtown areas of Franklin and Tilton/Northfield with Rt. 140/Exit 20 on I-93. As part of a regional trail system, The Winnipesaukee River Trail provides easy access to the Northern Line trail which runs from Penacook to Lebanon. The Winnipesaukee Trail Association continues to work on expanding east to Silver Lake and future connections to the Winnisquam Trail in Belmont and WOW Trail in Laconia.
