MEREDITH — The Winnipesaukee Playhouse continues the 2021 season with the musical 'Dani Girl.' The four-person musical is about a young girl’s magically imaginative adventure in the face of childhood cancer. The play is written by Michael Koomans and Christopher Dimond, and plays on the outdoor amphitheatre stage through July 31.
Dani is a nine-year-old, battling leukemia with the help of her imaginary friend, Raph. Together they embark on adventures as she attempts to answer the question of “why cancer?” and win back her hair. During her latest hospital stay, Dani is joined by another patient, a science fiction-obsessed tween who goes by Marty Luke McFly Skywalker. Dani and Marty join forces to battle cancer, literally and figuratively.
Rebecca Tucker returns for her eighth season at the playhouse. She is joined by William Vaughn, and Marcus Wells and Amanda Lattanzi as the children. The production is directed by Aileen Wells McGroddy.
Scenic designer Neil Pankhurst provides McGroddy and cast with a jungle gym on stage.
