Step Up Parents awarded $4,500 grant from the Bishop’s Charitable Assistance Fund

The Bishop’s Charitable Assistance Fund recently presented a $4,500 grant to Step Up Parents in support of its mission to provide support and financial assistance to kinship caregivers who are raising the children of parents who struggle with substance use disorder. The BCAF has made a difference in the lives of so many citizens of New Hampshire for nearly 40 years, and continues to do so.

“The Bishop’s Charitable Assistance Fund is so pleased to be able to help Step Up Parents to continue to offer support to relatives or close family friends who step up to care, nurture and protect children,” shared Julie Bailey, chair of the allocation committee for the Bishop’s Charitable Assistance Fund.

Denyse Richter, founder and executive director of Step Up Parents, expressed gratitude for the continued support, stating, "The Bishop’s Charitable Assistance Fund has been a kind supporter of our work for the last three years. We appreciate not only their generosity, but that they see the importance and value in serving kinship families who are so truly deserving of our support."

Since its founding in 2019, Step Up Parents has helped over 400 kinship families, impacted over 700 children, and given over $225,000 in assistance with the help of generous grants like this one.
