GILFORD ― Many people enjoy feeding wild birds. Putting up tubes full of sunflower seeds or trays of mealy worms is not the only way to attract birds. Planting native perennials, shrubs and trees can provide a long lasting habitat for the birds while enhancing your landscape.

The Opechee Garden Club will host "Birdscaping: Landscaping for the Birds," presented by subject matter expert Ruth Droescher on Monday, April 6, at Gilford Community Church at noon.

Droescher is an advanced master gardener with the University of NH Extension Service, she has also completed their "Speaking for Wildlife Program" and the Natural Resources Steward Program.

Her yard is also a registered National Wildlife Federation Waystation by Monarch Watch. Working in her yard, at a local garden center, she designs gardens and is also a Herbalist Education Advisor.

Light refreshments will follow.
