LACONIA — Big Brothers Big Sisters of New Hampshire has been providing mentorship to kids across the state for nearly 60 years. Youth in need are matched with caring and supportive members of their community to build lifelong friendships that help these youth achieve higher aspirations, greater confidence, better relationships, avoidance of risky behaviors, and educational success.
These mentorship programs are offered to all youth free of charge. BBBSNH is able to provide these programs along with professional and on-going support and training for the matched kids and mentors, through the support of organizations in New Hampshire communities. The generosity of these organizations ensures that mentorship is available to all youth in need.
This year, the Laconia/Gilford Lions Club has donated $2,500 in support of Big Brothers Big Sisters of New Hampshire, and the 36 current mentoring matches here in the Lakes Region. The donation is being made as part of the Lions Club’s expanded and ongoing Season of Giving campaign
“The Big Brothers & Sisters organization builds bridges which permit youths to overcome obstacles and reach their life goals,” said Matt Soza, Laconia/Gilford Lions Club President. “They have a big direct positive impact in our immediate community and we are glad to be able to assist them in their worthwhile work.”
