HOLDERNESS — Holderness Recreation will hold programs focused on mental and physical fitness during the beginning to the year.
Chakra Dance
A two-day Chakra Dance course will take place on Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 17-18. Attendees will devote two days to opening, experiencing, and activating each of the seven chakras through free movement dance. They will gently travel from the root to the crown — clearing the body, releasing emotions, awakening energy, and returning to our true inner power.
Day one will provide an explanation of chakras and discuss the first three and day two will discuss the remaining four.
Fencing
Nicholas Geraci will hold a six-week introduction to fencing where attendees will learn about equipment, cost, time commitment, basic skills, movement, terminology, footwork, body position, wrist work and more. Attendees will use foam foils. The class will run Friday, Jan. 23, through Friday, March 6.
For those with more experience, an intermediate fencing class will take place during the same time period. This class will allow novice, recreational, and developing fencers to continue improving their fencing techniques through structured drills in a group format.
Those interested will acquire a better understanding of the rules of Right of Way, and be comfortable with advanced footwork, direct and indirect attacks, parrying, and ripostes. Equipment for this class at minimum include: a mask, jacket, glove, and complete practice foil.
Compass of the Heart
Certified Life Coach and Spiritual Wellness Program Coordinator Lena Moser will lead a program on Sunday, Jan. 25, focused on calming the hum of busy-ness.
She will lead a soulful, restorative workshop designed for driven women who are ready to stop spinning in thoughts and start listening to their intuition. In this interactive two-hour session, attendees will: learn to quiet the battle between the logical mind and intuitive heart; experience a grounding and restorative nature-based meditation with live drumming and Native American flute; and map out their Inner Compass to gain clarity on next steps in life or career.
Register by Wednesday, Jan. 21. For more information, visit holderness-hh.gov, call 603-968-3700 or email recreation@holderness-nh.gov.
