WOLFEBORO — The Governor Wentworth Arts Council, a supporter of arts in the Lakes Region since 1968, invites applications from artists and cultural organizations for their 2022 grant cycle. Several opportunities exist for artists at all stages of their career.

The GWAC Arts Scholarship is for graduating seniors in the Governor Wentworth School District who will be attending an arts program. The use of the word “arts” is intentional and meant to encompass more than traditional fine art programs. Applicants may be attending programs ranging from performing arts, to visual art, design classes, to fine craft programs. Up to two seniors will be awarded $500-$1000 each.

The Priscilla Hodges Scholarship Fund was established in the late 1980s in memory of Melvin Village artist Priscilla Hodges Saunders, who had a deep appreciation for art education. The Fund is designed for adult applicants in the Lakes Region who wish to participate in a fine art workshop, seminar, or a continuing education course in the arts. Awards range from $200-$1000.

The Art Education Fund is open to artists and organizations for costs related to arts education that do not include class or workshop fees. Potential grant applications include: materials for a workshop, sponsoring a student at your host organization, costs of teaching a new class, and much more. Awards range from $200-$500.

Art in the Libraries recognizes the important role that our libraries play in the lives of our community. Libraries are invited to receive funding for arts programming, art-related books, media, or other costs.

To be eligible, applicants must live or work in Brookfield, Effingham, New Durham, Ossipee, Tuftonboro, or Wolfeboro. Except for the GWAC Arts Scholarship, applicants must also be age 18 or older at the time of the award. To learn more and apply, visit governorwentworthartscouncil.org/grants.
