GILFORD — Granite. The state epithet’s origins, and the rock upon which people built their homes. The ubiquity of stone and rock is something that can go unnoticed if not outright ignored. Take a deeper dive into the state’s geological makeup on Thursday, Oct. 1 at 5:30 p.m. for the “Geology of New Hampshire.” Ollie Fletcher, outreach specialist from the McAuliffe- Shepard Discovery Center, will be here to take a look at New Hampshire’s geological history, how it has developed, and the unique properties and minerals that make it what it is. For anyone who’s ever pondered about the ground upon which they tread, this is a chance to find out a little more about it.
