GILMANTON — Join “Cordwood,” an acoustic band, with special guest, well-known comedian Rebecca Rule at the Gilmanton Iron Works Old Town Hall.

This four-piece group has a blend of country, folk and bluegrass music with Walt Kutylowski on bass, Al Pratt on lead guitar, Bob Young on mandolin and Wini Scovill-Young on rhythm guitar and banjo. All band members are songwriters who bring their heartfelt vocals to down-home original songs, giving their unique sound to both originals and covers.

The band will perform “Names in Stone,” the title song of their first CD, written by Wini, about her family as she grew up on the Scovill poultry farm, near Crystal Lake in Gilmanton, New Hampshire.

Adding to the night’s entertainment will be Rebecca Rule, the author of many books for children and adults–including “New Hampshire Trivia.” Other books include “That Reminds Me of a Funny Story,” a memoir and compendium of Yankee humor. She brings humor to some New England habits and activities.

This event will be held on Saturday, April 25, at the Gilmanton Iron Works Old Town Hall from 7 to 9 p.m. All proceeds go toward the replacement of the schoolhouse roof on the Smith Meetinghouse grounds.
