MEREDITH — For many people, the hectic, stress filled days of the Christmas season are not the most wonderful time of the year. It may be the first Christmas without a loved family member; or anger caused by the pandemic and the loss of life, normalcy, employment, trust and political mayhem. For others, it may be the anguish of broken relationships, or the weariness of ill health, lack of natural light, or loneliness.

The First Congregational Church of Meredith is hosting two services in preparation for Christmas. The first is an Ecumenical service with St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church and Trinity Episcopal Church on the longest, darkest night of the year, Tuesday, Dec.21 at 6:30 p.m. This Longest Night candlelit service will be one of song and contemplative prayer, designed to seek God's love and light by lifting up each heartfelt problem.

The second service of music, Lessons, Candles, and Carols, in celebration of the joyous birth of Jesus, will be offered on Dec. 24 at 7 p.m.

All are welcome to attend both services at 4 Highland Street.
