History happened here

The Laconia Historical & Museum Society invites the community to the 4th annual “History Happened Here!” event on Saturday, May 30. The event brings the city’s past and present together through three story-driven programs. The Porches, Pillars & Past Stories walking tour, beginning at 9 a.m., invites guests to wander along Pleasant Street, where historic homes and hidden details come to life through guided storytelling and little-known facts about people and moments that shaped the neighborhood. On the Modern Bites, Historic Sites food tour — 11 a.m.-2 p.m. — participants will sample offerings from downtown favorites while discovering the stories behind the buildings they call home. Inside the Then & Now: Laconia Through Time exhibit, visitors will take a visual journey across generations, exploring side-by-side comparisons of historic photographs and modern-day views that reveal just how much the city has changed, and what has remained. The schedule is designed to ensure everyone can enjoy as many events as they wish. Space for the tours is limited. Reservations can be made now at laconiahistory.com. (Courtesy photo)
