Stephen Hodecker: Truth cannot be voted in and out of existence — it simply is

To The Daily Sun,

How are we to divine the truth where it now seems in such short supply?

When previously trusted sources can no longer be depended upon to purvey the truth. When we are assaulted daily with critical theory preaching that truth is a construct of white racism, truth is subjective, truth is a matter of opinion. In a world where truth is being debased faster than our currency, we must fall back on what Thomas Jefferson described as "self-evident truth." That which requires no explanation, no fact checker or department misinformation to determine its validity. These truths are universally accepted through observation, reason and common sense. They exist independently of individual thoughts, feelings and opinions.

If it is raining we may prefer that the sun be shining, but our preference or doctrine will not stop the rain nor bring the sun. Truth is not relative or subject to our perceptions. No party has a monopoly on truth. Truth cannot be voted in and out of existence — it simply is.

To those living in Texas and Arizona it is self-evident that the border with Mexico is wide open.

To the household buying groceries, a vehicle or a home, it is self-evident that our currency is being systematically devalued and debased.

Does saying that someone is a fascist or Nazi make them a fascist or Nazi? No, we must look to their actions and determine for ourselves.

Do they limit our access to free speech on social internet platforms, muzzling certain thoughts and ideas? Have they taken control of the media where all are parroting the same talking points? Have they taken steps to disarm the population in the name of the public good? Do they attempt to imprison their political opposition?

The truth will come to bare as it may.
