To The Daily Sun,
Too often in politics, we hear the “campaign” promises that never seem to go anywhere or are dead on Election Day. Issues get talked about, committees get formed, and then nothing changes except for the days, weeks and years. That was not the case for public safety in our Granite State with what Gov. Kelly Ayotte did with bail reform. She listened to victims of crimes and their families, the law enforcement community and the public outcries for justice. She recognized firsthand what the problem was, bail reform, and made it a top priority to get long-term solutions in place.
That is real leadership. It’s principled, it’s practical, and it’s exactly the kind of leadership we need more of. The governor didn’t just acknowledge a broken system, she rolled up her sleeves, worked with victims, law enforcement and legislators, to deliver a solution that puts the safety of Granite Staters first.
In today’s world, that kind of follow-through is rare. It’s easy to talk about problems. It’s much harder to take responsibility and get results. Gov. Ayotte has proven that she is willing to do hard work, and our state is safer because of it.
I deeply appreciate her efforts and willingness to work with those who get things done. We all should be proud of leaders like Gov. Ayotte who put people ahead of politics. We don’t want to just keep New Hampshire the safest state in the country; we want to make it even better. Gov. Ayotte continues to show up and deliver on her promises.
