Kim Baron, 76

GILFORD — Kim Baron passed away on Sept. 25, 2025, at his residence surrounded by his family. He was 76 years old.

He was born in Laconia on March 19, 1949, the eldest son and second born child to Roger and Elizabeth, and grew up on Harvard Street with his large family. His father, Roger, founded Baron Machine in 1957, and operated the business until his tragic passing in 1970. At the time, Kim was a student at Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston, Massachusetts, and left school to assist with the operation of the business before taking it over as company owner. Kim grew the small eight-person shop to a global enterprise. He served in this role until his retirement in 2015, whereupon his son, Jeremy, took over the business. He took great pride in Baron Machine being a third-generation family run business.

Kim took an active role in the lives of his children, grandchildren and relatives by teaching them how to fish, golf and enjoy summers on Lake Winnipesaukee. There he could be seen enjoying a sunset cruise in his wooden boat, the Baroness, or grilling, entertaining, and enjoying the company of both family, friends and the dogs at his home on Mark Island.

Starting in 2010, Kim loved to spend his winters in Treasure Cay, a community on Abaco Island in the Bahamas. There he daily challenged the waters in his flatboat, in the hunt for bonefish, in a pristine natural setting called the Marles. He and his wife, Mary Anne, became a beloved part of the Treasure Cay community, sharing stories and making wonderful life-long friendships.

Kim had a deep and charitable heart, and contributed to many projects and causes in the Lakes Region. He donated to the construction of the Merrill Fay Ice Arena in Laconia, with the desire to forever name the lobby after his father, Roger Baron. Roger, much like Kim, was a lifelong hockey enthusiast. He was often giving without any recognition to friends, family and loved ones.

He was never scared to take on new opportunities and did everything with honesty and integrity. He had very strong values and was well-liked by everyone, mostly due to his incredible sense of humor, wonderful smile and laugh. His interests were widespread and he easily attracted friendships from people of all walks of life.

His legacy will carry on forever, reminding us that we control our own destiny. Kim was gentle, morally whole and hard-working. He chose to live a life of meaningful acts of love, service and endless fun.

Kim is survived by his loving wife of 16 years, Mary Anne (Klostermann); and his children, Jeremy Baron and his wife Tracy (Dwight) Baron, and Jill (Baron) Trimble and her husband Andrew Trimble. He will be forever cherished and remembered by his four grandchildren, Brooke Baron, Addison Baron, Blake Trimble and Baron Trimble; as well seven siblings and their families: Jari Ford, Kevin Baron, Jay Baron, Robin Baron, Kent Baron, Beth McCann and Chip Baron. His memory will be treasured by all of his relatives, nieces, nephews, their siblings, friends and all the lives he touched in his lifetime of living in the Lakes Region of New Hampshire. Kim was predeceased by his father, Roger, and his mother, Elizabeth.

There are no words to express how grateful the Baron family is to the countless doctors and hospital workers who assisted him in his long fight with cancer, as well as the nurses who eased his pain and helped him during this prolonged struggle. Kim made them laugh and smile even during the illness's most difficult periods.

There will be a celebration of life on Saturday, Oct. 11, held at Lakeport Opera House, 781 Union Ave., Laconia. Hours will be from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Parking is available directly across the street at O Steaks & Seafood, 62 Doris Ray Court, Laconia.
