To The Daily Sun,
What a great 123rd Gilmanton Old Home Day. Many thanks go to many people. First and foremost thanks to those that attended Gilmanton Old Home Day! I need to start by thanking my family for their help and support.
My husband Gene Welcome, without we would not have had BEANS! From set-up to the starting and the tending of the fires, lowering the beans into the bean holes and then dinner service as usual he went above and beyond to make sure we had a successful day.
Big thanks go out to the Gilmanton Old Home Day board and organizational committee. You all played an important part of our success. I want to thank the cookhouse, bean server and dinner service volunteers that made sure that both dinner seatings were prepared for and served without a hitch.
Thanks to our town selectman for a smoothly run Food Booth. Thank you to all of the pie bakers it was an exception year for beautiful pies!
Thanks go out to Gilmanton Youth Organization who helped with set-up and breakdown of the grounds, and to Patti Cameron of the Gilmanton Cub Scouts. These two community organizations put aside time in their busy end of summer schedules to help out.
Thanks to Gilmanton Winery for supplying the golf cart transport for our older and handicapped attendees. Thanks to our Fire and Police Departments for your help and contributions to the day.
To the remaining small core of volunteers that helped throughout the three-day set-up and breakdown period THANK YOU THANK YOU!
Gilmanton Old Home Day is suffering like so many other volunteer-based organizations for new and able help. This community event's existence is threatened because of it. We are starting our campaign NOW to bring in new friends from the community who want to help keep this event alive for many years to come. Want to help? Contact us at gilmantonoldhomeday@gmail.com and share your interest in helping with future Gilmanton Old Home Days. We urge you to please do your part and join us!
