BELMONT — A Buick traveling northbound on Laconia Road Sunday veered off into the woods, striking several trees. The driver, Dennis Greenwood Jr., 47, was rushed to the Concord Hospital-Laconia, where he later died from his injuries.
According to a press release from Belmont Police, officers received a call at 4:21 p.m. on March 15, about a vehicle in the woods off Laconia Road, just north of Wildlife Blvd.
"The patient was ejected, and it was down a steep embankment,” said Belmont Fire Chief Donald Pickowicz. “We were unable to determine at what point he was ejected.”
Greenwood was found unconscious but breathing, and prepared to be taken to the hospital, after being rescued from the hill.
It took about 90 minutes for first responders to clear the scene and roadway. It reopened at about 6 p.m. It was determined Greenwood was the sole occupant of the Buick.
The Belmont Police Department was assisted at the scene by the Laconia and Gilmanton police departments. The patient was transported by Laconia.
The cause of the accident remains under investigation. Anyone who witnessed anything is asked to call Det. Nancy Hicks at 603-267-8351.
