Russ Wiles: Leftism, Green New Deal agenda will bring us back into the Dark Ages

As Norman Rogers reminded us in an American Thinker column, "In 17th-century Europe, the Dark Ages were swept away by a group of characters obsessed with logic, reason and rationality — during a period later described as The Enlightenment." Reason, logic, common sense and wisdom prevailed to the enormous benefit of mankind. Yet now it seems that clear thinking, rational thought and wisdom have, in the 21st century, become victims of power, control, corruption and magical thinking from the Marxist left that has consumed most of the Democrat Party.

To put it another way, let's go to Patrick Moore, co-founder of Greenpeace, who left when it became a political fundraising organization and no longer science-based: "The environmental movement abandoned science and logic in favor of emotion and sensationalism."

Bjorn Lomborg, Michael Shellenberger, Alex Epstein, Richard Lindzen and others caution the public to not fall for this latest cultlike extremism that has spawned the "Green New Deal."

The epilogue to Michael Crichton's novel "State of Fear" succinctly states what passes for elusive wisdom for today's elitists in academia and the legacy media: "The perceived intelligentsia is particularly susceptible to fads and hoaxes." 

They were wrong about global warming killing the great barrier reef and the whale population. President Joe Biden warned us of another tough hurricane season in order to promote the green climate agenda. There has been no significant trend up or down in frequency over the past 140 years. Will any hurricanes hit the mainland this year? The greenies must be praying for Tropical Storm Fiona to become ferocious and head northeast. Just as ferocious as the greenies who will bring us back into the dark ages if we let them.
