To The Daily Sun,
Followers of Mayor Mike Bordes are trying desperately to put the man on a pedestal even after he himself has begun a path forward that would appear to make him above proper 91A use and proper voting procedure as Laconia's mayor.
True leadership doesn't involve hypocrisy on 91A matters and punitive actions taken in response to losing votes that the mayor isn't involved with in the first place.
Councilors Bob Soucy and Jon Hildreth don't deserve the name-calling, intimidation, and calls for not only their removal from the committee Mayor Bordes desperately wants disbanded, but from the Laconia City Council. That is a joke.
Transparency is a word thrown around downtown under this mayor and certain other actors that happily follow his cues. Another word losing its original importance under this regime.
As far as I know, Laconia has never had an outwardly punitive individual as mayor who didn't seem to understand his place. Plus 1 votes to break ties. Ribbon cutting. Advocating for lower- and middle-income working families. Seems pretty simple right? Guess not.
Will we continue to see punitive actions like this over the next two years in Laconia? Yes, yes we will.
I wish I wasn't right about that.
The quiet majority needs to now more than ever voice opinions about this and let the mayor and his city council know that this is unacceptable and will be dealt with on election day.
We need more training on Robert's Rules and less pitchforks and attempted intimidation.
