To The Daily Sun,
The New Hampshire Republican Party has been hijacked by extreme libertarians (Free State agenda enablers). They campaign as Republicans but aren’t like the Republicans that once stood for fiscal conservancy and the concept of a social contract, caring for people, community, public education and the protection of our environment.
Voters in Meredith, regardless of affiliation, should consider voting for Seth Wheeler and Dean Cascadden for their state representatives. Visit their websites (seth4meredith.com and cascadden4meredith.com) and Facebook pages. Study their positions. Talk with them when they come to readers' doors. They are neighbors voters can trust. They know this community. They will work for what matters to residents, keeping costs down, ensuring that what makes our community so great continues and returning civility to our Legislature.
In contrast, consider their Republican opponents. Scott Wallace decided to claim residency in Meredith just last June. His past votes garnered him the highest rankings from the New Hampshire Liberty Alliance, the best metric to identify extreme libertarians. He signed a document that proposed the abolishment of the state of NH.
Matt Coker was elected as a Democrat but switched parties soon after. Coker has supported almost every expansion of the school voucher program which takes tax dollars for private schooling. Coker has supported the reduction of corporate taxes and the elimination of taxes on securities, which benefits the wealthy. His votes have shifted state costs to Meredith and raise our property taxes.
Coker and Wallace support the passage of Ballot Question 2 (tax caps) which will severely hurt our schools. A vote for either Wallace or Coker will enable the extreme libertarians causing such strife that has been the norm in Concord these days.
On Nov. 3, join me and vote for Seth Wheeler and Dean Cascadden, neighbors voters can trust.
