NEW HAMPTON — Peter Lyon Clark, 69, of New Hampton, died on Sept. 29, 2026.

Born Jan. 8, 1957, in Newton, Massachusetts, Peter was the son of Lyon and Nancy (Cline) Clark. He spent his younger years in Newton, before moving to Meredith, in 1978, where he met the love of his life, Madeline Amabile, who he married in 1982.

Peter was a mechanic for many years at Keytown Auto, where the locals frequently gathered for lighthearted discussions of all things Meredith and beyond.

A lover of the open road, Peter would often explore the back routes of New Hampshire, and Vermont, by car or motorcycle and happily report his adventures back to friends and family. Animals were always of great interest, especially when he spotted a moose, donkey or farm animal of any kind.

Peter was a gentle soul who would do anything for anyone. He was very close to his family and often called his siblings to check in and to share anything of interest he had encountered.

He is survived by his sister, Barbara (Clark) Herterich, and her husband Bill; brother Jim Clark and his wife Lori; sister Nancy (Clark) Couture and her partner Dave Vaillancourt; brother Charlie Clark and his partner Gina Grimaldi; nieces Krissy, Jennifer, Jessica, Savannah, Kimberly and husband Ted; and nephew Reed and wife Phoy Chin Tan. In addition to his parents and his wife, Peter was predeceased by his nephew, Scott Herterich.

A celebration of life will be held for friends and family at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 24, at Hart's Turkey Farm in Meredith.
