GILMANTON — Police are searching for a wanted man, considered armed and dangerous, last seen at a Route 140 residence on Monday.
Dana Hathaway, 29, formerly serving time in State Prison, is sought after fleeing from police in Epsom last month. This prompted a large-scale search in surrounding communities.
Gilmanton Police were called to a home on Route 140 on Oct. 5, after the homeowner reported a vehicle parked at the end of the driveway. Police say the last person the homeowner saw driving the vehicle was Hathaway, who was on parole from State Prison.
The homeowner gave officers permission to enter the home, and they secured the area. The Belknap Regional Special Operation Group was called to help search for Hathaway there, but he wasn't found. “Many” firearms were seized from the home. A vehicle was also seized, and is currently impounded pending search warrants.
Gilmanton Police were assisted by Alton and Belmont Police, State Police, Belknap County Sheriff’s Office, the Belknap Regional Special Operations Group and Gilmanton Fire.
Hathaway has a history of violence toward law enforcement, and was previously serving time for robbery and domestic violence. He's known to be armed, despite being prohibited from doing so.
Anyone who sees Hathaway or knows where he is should call the U.S. Marshals at 877-WANTED-2 or Gilmanton Police at 603-267-7401.
