To The Daily Sun,
The Lakes Region General Hospital Auxiliary would like to voice its strong support for the LRGHealthcare organization and especially the hospital we directly serve, LRGH.
The LRGH Auxiliary has been true to its mission to assist the hospital to provide quality patient care in our community for more than 125 years. Though it’s impossible to trace back 125 years of donating equipment, establishing programs, providing scholarships, supporting capital campaigns, operating the hospital gift shop and hosting fundraising events, it is safe to say that the amount of money raised and donated by the LRGH Auxiliary has reached the millions. Your friends and neighbors for decades have volunteered their time and effort to help LRGH be the place on the top of the hill where we can go when we need to get healthy and be well.
The volunteer work we do is not just the right thing to do, it’s the sensible thing to do. Each and every one of us living in the Lakes Region, needs and deserves a hospital which provides 21st century medical services in a facility which offers the technology, the highly trained medical staff, and a broad menu of medical services and specialties in a clean, modern and caring environment. It should also be said that it takes a village of employees performing a multitude of jobs and tasks in association with the work of our doctors, nurses, and technologists in lab, clinical and medical imaging services to successfully operate LRGH. LRGHealthcare, as a whole organization, with its facilities and satellite sites provides that to the Lakes Region and we need to fight to keep it.
Lastly, we would offer that many on the LRGH Auxiliary Board of Directors at one time or another have been an inpatient at LRGH, and are long-standing patients of the various medical and specialty practices associated with our hospital. We know it’s in our own self-interest and of vital importance to have local, medical care available to us. We hope all Lakes Region residents realize that too. We urge everyone to join in the effort to write letters, make calls and contact legislators to seek help, and find out what we need to do to not only keep Lakes Region General Hospital but all facilities, satellite services and practices of LRGHealthcare operational.
