MOULTONBOROUGH ― An 18-year-old woman was allegedly abducted Thursday night, and a statewide alert helped identify the vehicle in which she was traveling. Returning to her last location, officers located the alleged victim. It is unknown if anyone was injured.

Moultonborough Police received a 911 call involving an apparent abduction of an 18-year-old female at 9:30 p.m. on July 16. Using a statewide BOLO, or Be On the Lookout, alert, State Police located the vehicle on Whittier Highway, near the Center Harbor town line, shortly after it was sent out, according to a public statement from the department.

State Police conducted a felony traffic stop, and the trooper determined three minors were unlawfully possessing alcohol. They were charged and taken into custody without incident.

“The investigation into the reported abduction remains active and ongoing. At this time, all individuals involved have been identified, and investigators have determined there is no threat to the community. No additional information will be released at this time due to the ongoing nature of the investigation and the involvement of juvenile subjects,” read a statement posted on the Moultonborough Police Department’s Facebook page.

According to Meredith Police Chief Michael Harper, an office from his department, along with a state trooper, saw the wanted vehicle in Meredith, before it drove back into Moultonborough. His department responded for assistance.

The Moultonborough Police Department was also assisted by Center Harbor Police, as well as State Police and Carroll County Sheriff’s Office.

Repeated contact with Moultonborough Police yielded no further information.
