Marc Abear: Free speech should and does allow dissent

The administration wants cellular service providers to censor your text messages. No probable cause, no court hearing, just monitor all of it. Report malcontents to the government. The next Big Tech attack on free speech is here. President Joe Biden wants cell service providers to censor your text messages . . . why stop there?

This is creepy. Biden, we can all see, has significant cognitive impairment. Who knows whether it's Xavier Becerra or some other administration leftist pushing this repression? But the next Big Tech attack on free speech is here.

Biden’s tyrannical speech police are looking to shut our phones down. They feel the need to prevent us from texting something they don’t like. Politico is carrying a story about the administration’s efforts. They are more generous than they should be in their reporting.

Texting and communicating non-support for the administration’s experimentation on people is not the functional equivalent of monitoring for the next terrorist attack.

Biden allied groups are also planning to engage fact checkers more aggressively. They are working with SMS carriers to “dispel misinformation” about vaccines. Thou shalt not dissent over social media or text messaging. This is in addition to sending thought police to your door.

White House spokesperson Kevin Munoz said, “We are steadfastly committed to keeping politics out of the effort to get every American vaccinated . . . we can save lives and help our economy further recover . . . When we see deliberate efforts to spread misinformation, we view that as an impediment to the country’s public health and will not shy away from calling that out.”

Hey Kevin, there’s a difference between getting out your message and suppressing the right of free speech. Dissent is still allowed. Actually it should be celebrated in a free society. Public debate is the best way to determine which ideas have the most merit.

If the administration is correct; make the case and win the debate. What are you afraid of? The truth might come out? People will participate voluntarily because it is in their best interest?

Big Tech, communications and the media are leftist. They are government controlled, though they make the argument they are privately owned. The reality is there is no functional difference between being government owned and having private ownership if government has operational control.

It’s called fascism. It is tyrannical. This is exactly how the National Socialist German Workers’ Party functioned. Remember how well that worked out?

The plan is to censor conservatives even when they text. Don’t for a second think they’ll stop at texts about the coronavirus and vaccines or with conservatives. These people are fascists looking to entirely eliminate the First Amendment, our Constitutional right of free speech.

Sure, they are doing this through big business. It helps them avoid the accusation; this crack down on free speech is illegal. They will assert it may be their idea but the government didn’t do it. Therefore, the First Amendment does not apply . . . weasel words. It’s tyranny by weasel words.
