To The Daily Sun,

A recent editorial dated Nov. 5 titled, "Invest in NH journalism" made an eloquent case for support of the New Hampshire Community News Fund. The editorial emphasized that press freedom and the public's right to know are not self-executing but rather a collaborative process between the public and the reporters who sit through long meetings.

There is an upcoming opportunity for reporters to ensure the integrity of community care for elderly, disabled and injured veterans by reporting on the second pre-hearing conference scheduled in the matter of Jennifer Doig before the New Hampshire Personnel Appeals Board. Doig was terminated earlier this year from her position as the chief financial officer of the New Hampshire Veterans Home.

This second pre-hearing conference will take place at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 19, at the NH Public Employee Labor Relations Board, 2 1/2 Beacon St., Suite 200, Concord.
