To The Daily Sun,

The Memorial Day Service in Washington, D.C., was a wonderful tribute to all the soldiers who gave their lives for our country. Recognition was given to their families, loved ones and Gold Star families. Personal stories about the wounded that came home with injuries and/or emotional scars were shared with all at the ceremony. Everywhere I looked I saw our American flag proudly displayed at war memorials, capital buildings and the graves at Arlington Cemetery.

Recently, it came to light that an American flag was desecrated by being flown upside down at the residence of Justice Samuel Alito, a Supreme Court judge. This action demeaned the flag and the memory that so many have died in defending it. Whatever your politics may be, that American flag belongs to all of us. Long may it fly, right side up.
