To The Daily Sun,

Last week as a volunteer for the American Cancer Society, I went to the Statehouse to ask our legislators to support efforts to improve New Hampshire residents' access to biomarker testing. Biomarker testing is precision medicine that uses information about an individual’s own genes to help connect patients to the right treatment at the right time. Unfortunately insurance will not always cover this testing, a very expensive procedure. However, in the Senate, a bill 120 has been introduced to expand the insurance coverage of this testing. I would ask readers to join me in writing and emailing our Laconia delegation (Sen. Tim Lang, Reps. Mike Bordes, Sheri Minor, Steve Bogert and Charlie St. Clair) for their support of this bill so that more of our family and friends can benefit from this personalized medicine.
