To The Daily Sun,

I couldn’t be more excited to see Wolfeboro resident Karen Burnett-Kurie announce her candidacy for District 7 (Ossipee, Tuftonboro and Wolfeboro) in the New Hampshire House.

Karen’s connection to our community spans generations. From a Navy family that always considered New Hampshire home base, her grandparents summered along Tuftonboro's Wawbeek shore, and four generations of her family have supported the Abenaki Tower and Trail Association. As a child, she spent her summers at Camp Weetamoe on Lake Ossipee, and she later moved to Wolfeboro, to serve as the first executive director of what is now the Wentworth Watershed Association.

Karen’s 45-year career spans science education, nonprofit administration, and environmental science. This background directly informs her commitment to the issues facing our towns: housing and healthcare affordability, fair taxes, water quality protection, and strong public schools. Her dedication to service continues today through her volunteer work as a Lake Steward at Back Bay, and on the Tuftonboro Old Home Day Committee.

"We need leadership that listens to citizens and brings their viewpoints to Concord," Karen says. "Too often, thousands of citizens express their opinions against a bill, yet it still passes. When that happens, it is proof that the legislature is not representing the majority."

Karen looks forward to meeting neighbors across the district. Starting in September, she will hold weekly hours at the Wolfeboro-Tuftonboro Democratic office. You can also learn more about her campaign at karenburnettkurie.com or on her Facebook page.

Please remember to vote for Karen Burnett-Kurie for District 7 in the September primary.
