To The Daily Sun,
I’m a retired nurse and I’m appalled by what I see in the Social Security and health care section of the Republican Project 2025 plan.
I worked until I was 67 years of age because we desperately needed nurses to stay in the trenches during the worst of the COVID epidemic. I was physically spent and could not have worked until my present age of 69. I walk with crutches now, but under the Republican plan I’d have had to wait until age 69 before receiving my hard-earned Social Security benefits. It may be fine for a white collar worker to continue on the job until age 69, but if your job is a physically demanding one, working full time until almost age 70 is torture.
Under the Republican Project 2025 I would also be one of roughly 73,000 New Hampshire citizens who will pay more for prescription drugs because of changes the Republicans plan for Medicare users. The Republicans also want to block the government from negotiating for lower drug costs. What is the sense of that? Republicans are more interested in big pharma than in little old me.
