In the more than two weeks since 62-year-old John Anderson was found stabbed to death in an apartment on South Main Street in Laconia, nobody is in custody, and police are seeking help from the public.

Attorney General John M. Formella, along with State Police Col. Mark B. Hall and Laconia Police Chief Matt Canfield, said Thursday night investigators are looking for video footage of anyone in the 200 block of South Main, from 1:40 p.m. to 3:40 p.m., on April 13.

“Investigators believe recorded video footage may exist of vehicles and persons in and around Mr. Anderson’s home on April 13, 2026, which is of interest in the investigation,” according to a press release.

Investigators ask any “person, business, property owner, or delivery driver, who lived, worked, or traveled through Laconia” in the 2-hour period to provide video of the intersection of South Main and Cottage Street.

Investigators are also looking for footage of anyone traveling south to the Route 3 Bypass, along Belmont Road/Route 106; Province Road/Route 107; South Main; Province Street; Hounsell Avenue; and Route 3.

Anderson was found dead at his apartment on the morning of April 14, after Laconia Police went to the residence, 217 S. Main St., for a wellness check.

In an autopsy on April 16, the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner found Anderson was stabbed repeatedly in the neck, and his cause of death was homicide. Homicide is defined as someone dying at the hands of another person.

In the days following the discovery of Anderson’s body, the area became a crime scene, with State Police Major Crimes Unit investigating.

State Police served a search warrant at a Cottonwood Trail residence in Gilford on April 21. Assessing recordings show the property is owned by John and Carol Anderson.

The Attorney General’s Office and State Police did not comment on whether a weapon had been recovered, or if they have any suspects or persons of interest.

Canfield said on Thursday, “there is no apparent threat to the public and the investigation is ongoing.”

“No one has been taken into custody,” Canfield said.

Anyone with footage in the area of South Main Street in Laconia around the bypass of the area in question from 1:40 p.m. to 3:40 p.m., on April 13, should call the State Police tip line at 603-MCU-TIPS.
