To The Daily Sun,

I am writing this letter in protest against the unnecessary fire horn that disrupts my family and others in Meredith.

It is 2026 and technology is expanding everyday. We now have smartphones and AI. Why do we still need a fire horn that might have been needed in horse and buggy days?

My husband and I moved to Meredith a year ago. We were not notified of how loud and disturbing this fire horn is. I did not realize this obnoxiously loud horn rattles the house at noon time and then several times throughout the day and night. We will be awakened at all hours of the night and morning, and not be able to get back to sleep.

I had heard from a friend who has been a volunteer for years at the Gilford Fire Department that at one time they had a horn such as Meredith. There were so many complaints that the town discontinued using the horn and now uses everyday technology to not disrupt its citizens.

I give thanks to all the firefighters and staff that help residents and are always there for us but there is no need for this antiquated fire horn. Put an end to it please so we all can rest and enjoy our homes.
