Chuck Potter: We need candidates who understand Belknap’s priorities

In a year when Laconia faces real challenges, affordability, county stability, and the need for steady hands in Concord, proven leadership matters. Mike Bordes has shown exactly that. His record reflects independence, responsiveness, and a willingness to take tough positions when the district needs it, not when a party demands it.

Alongside leaders like Cody Pfaff, Tim Minor, Paul Rossi and Mike Bordes, they represent a team that understands Belknap County’s priorities: protecting taxpayers, keeping county government accountable, and making sure local voices aren’t drowned out by Concord’s one-size-fits-all agenda. These candidates have demonstrated commitment to the district’s economic health, its families, and its long term stability.

The contrast with the Democratic slate is clear. Lois Kessin, Denise Riley, Marcia Hayward, and Eric Hoffman are campaigning on expanding government programs, increasing regulatory pressure, and growing county obligations without explaining how already strained taxpayers are supposed to absorb the cost. Their platform leans heavily on the idea that more bureaucracy will solve housing, healthcare, and senior services even though Belknap County has repeatedly seen that top down solutions from Concord rarely fit local realities.

Laconia deserves leadership grounded in experience, accountability, and fiscal responsibility. That’s the direction that keeps our county strong, our services stable, and our taxpayers protected.
