To The Daily Sun,
When my children were young, we visited The Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, New York, an area that matches the beauty of the Lakes Region. While we visited the museum, I would point out my favorite enshrined baseball players as being one of the greatest. My daughter, who was 7 years old at the time, asked me, “Dad, exactly how many one of the greatest are there?”
Her innocent caustic inquiry recently recurred to me when I stumbled on the Laconia Supervisory Union budget in The Laconia Daily Sun.
Exactly how many administrators are there in the Supervisory Union and how much are they paid? The proof is in the pudding. The Supervisory Union has been running smoothly without a superintendent for months now. If one position was eliminated, taxpayers would save more than $200,000 if it included the cost of benefits in the computation.
Is anybody on the Laconia School Board paying attention?
On another burning local issue, I congratulate the LDS on several editorial policy revisions. I will not miss most of those pseudo-intellectual national and local editorials (rants). I am sure they will not miss my pontificating on those issues in LDS. As far as Victor Davis Hanson is concerned his wisdom is easily found elsewhere.
Of course, my support for the revised editorial policy depends on fair application of the new guidelines, which may already be in question.
