Celine Champagne: Fact-checking letter about dancing at the White House

Although a bit late to respond to Mr. Kenneth Bowers’ letter from June 14, I finally had a chance to check his “fact” regarding transgender people dancing on the White House.

“President Biden did not allow transgender dancing; rather, during a June 2023 Pride Month celebration on the White House South Lawn, several guests went topless. The White House condemned the bare-chested display as unacceptable and banned the individuals involved from future events.” As for the cost of that event, “Standard event security and logistics are absorbed into the routine operating budgets of federal agencies like the U.S. Secret Service and the National Park Service, which monitor the grounds daily."

"While official state events are entirely taxpayer-funded, portions of events deemed explicitly political are legally required to be reimbursed by political entities, though the 2023 Pride event was classified as an official White House civil rights celebration.” Trump’s UFC fight event “Taxpayer Expenses Cost: $10 to $12 million.” The area where it took place damaged the grounds extensively. I will admit that “Lawn Restoration: UFC CEO Dana White confirmed the promotion is entirely responsible for an estimated $700,000 fee to fully restore and replace the South Lawn grass.”
