To The Daily Sun,
Franklin faces many challenges and strong leadership is needed to address multiple issues. For too long our city council and mayor have struggled to resolve most of them. Our current mayor came into the job with no city government acumen and seems to struggle with understanding the issues we face. Stammering and obfuscation seem to be her approach.Â
Opposing Desiree McLaughlin for (re)election is Glenn Morrill. Mr. Morrill is a lifelong Franklin resident who has a firm grasp of the issues and is ready and willing to roll up his sleeves and get to work. I am confident that he will work closely with the new city manager, city council and citizens to hammer out solutions that are in the best interest of the majority. The list is long and includes revenue generation, school funding and improvement, addressing the Capital Improvement Plan and revitalization of this city to name a few. Glenn has solid ideas and wants to work with all.Â
I have seen him in action as he voluntarily gives countless hours in service to us and our city. He’s consistent, thoughtful, insightful and mature. To his credit, he refuses to become mired in social media blather and hate speech.Â
Benjamin Forge is running for Ward 1 city council and is also a lifelong Franklin citizen who shares Glenn’s vision.
Samuel Jacobson shares a strong passion and enthusiasm to represent the citizens of Ward 2. Samuel has attended almost all of the city council meetings and has had lengthy conversations with a representative cross-section of citizens and those in Franklin city government. This has instilled in him a deep understanding of multiple issues and equipped him with the knowledge to represent his constituents.Â
I stand in solid support of Morrill, Forge and Jacobson.
